Akif Albayrak was born in Sakarya in 1980 and graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 2005. Immediately after graduation, he started his orthopedic residency at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Hospital and became a specialist physician in 2010.
Between 2010 and 2016, he completed his mandatory service at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Hospital as a Chief Assistant and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2016. He continued to work as an Associate Professor and Instructor at the 1st Orthopedics Clinic under the University of Health Sciences at the same hospital until 2020.
In 2011, he worked as a Clinical Fellow with Prof. Dr. Azmi Hamzaoğlu at Istanbul Spine Center for three months, and in 2017, he participated as an Observer Fellow with Prof. Dr. Frank Schwab at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) through a scholarship from the Turkish Spine Society.
In 2012, he successfully passed the orthopedic board exam and became a member of TOTEK (Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Education Council).
In 2014, he earned the Spine Proficiency Certificate by successfully completing the Spine Qualification Examination conducted by the Turkish Spine Society (TOD).
He is a member of TOD, TOTBID, TOTDER, and AO Spine, and served on the Young Specialists Board of TOTBID between 2014 and 2015.
In 2015, he served as the General Secretary of the Istanbul Orthopedics Meeting Congress.
He has authored 31 articles published in international journals and 40 articles in national journals, along with more than 18 international and over 50 national congress presentations.
He also serves on the editorial board of three international and one national journal and has edited the spine sections of two orthopedic textbooks under the Turkish Spine Society and Bone Joint Society.
In 2020, he resigned from his position at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital and opened his private clinic at Fulya Vital Plaza, where he continues to practice.
During his secondary and high school years, he played licensed basketball at İzmit DSİ Sports Club and achieved local and regional awards in the junior and youth categories. He also played for the Medical Faculty Basketball Team during university, achieving interfaculty tournament rankings.
Since 2018, he has been actively participating in amateur enduro motorcycle sports under the European Nature and Motorsports Association, competing in national and international races. In 2021, he completed the Kemer Sea to Sky International Enduro Race with a bronze medal.
As of June 2024, he continues to accept patients at Central Hospital Ataşehir and Central Hospital Etiler.
